Indigo is a sub-tropical shrub 1 to 2 meters tall that possesses the woad pigment in its leaves and is very popular as a blue vegetable dye for cloth. Indigo blue dye is regarded as safe for contact with skin. The FDA also permits Indigo for inclusion in cosmetics and soaps.
It can be used with henna to dye hair from brown to pure black, depending on the proportions of henna and indigo.
It's a Natural Astringent, Antiseptic & is claimed to fight infections.

To use: Mix with water to create a paste. Leave for 15 minutes. (Usually mixed up with henna at this time) Apply to hair for at least 1/2 an hour and up to 8 hours. Rinse.
