Getting Started: Opening a shop: 29

GroovyCart is an online shop hosting service that allows anyone to set up an online shop.

To create your own online shop you will need to go the GroovyCart registration page.

There are only 6 fields that you need to fill in to open a Groovy Cart online shop.

Registration Page

Required Information

Shopping Cart Name:
This will be used as the name and URL of your online shop. We recommend that you do not use the word shop in your shop name as we will put this on in all the necessary places.

The URL to your shop will be www.groovycart.co.uk/YOUR SHOP NAME so if you called your shop JillsSocks the website address for your site would be www.groovycart.co.uk/jillssocks We do allow users to use spaces in their shop name but we feel this is not recommended because customers may not be used to putting blank spaces in URLs and may find it hard to find your shop.

Examples of shop names are:
  • JillsSocks
  • The Photo Company
  • Funky Furniture
For more information see shopping cart name.

Login Name:
This will be the name you use to login to your administration panel, from here you can change all aspects of your shop from putting up products and viewing orders to changing the colours and moving widgets around.

You must remember your login name because without it we will not reset your password.

For more information see login name.

Login Password:
This is the password you will use to login to your administration panel

Your password should contain numbers and letter, we also recommend that you do not use words that are in the dictionary because this will make your password easy to guess.

For more information see login password

Repeat Password:
We ask that you retype your password that you used above to look for mistyped letters.

For more information see repeat password.
For more information on passwords see login password.

Your/Company Name:
This is what you want people to know you by, this could be your name or if you own and shop/company you may wish to enter that.

This may be displayed to your customers in E-mails sent by us on behalf of you, or on orders that people have made with you.

Examples of names could be:
  • Joe Blogs

Create/select a Cart Category:
This is the category that you would classify your shop as.

The second box allows you to select a category that is already in use, we recommend that you select a category from this box because your shop will be categorized with these other shops and will be easier for people to find.

Examples of cart categories are:
  • Arts and Crafts
  • Clothes
