PayPal Pro

PayPal Pro enables customers to pay for their order using either a card or their PayPal account.

In order to use this payment method, a shop must have a PayPal Pro account.  For further information, and to sign-up, see PayPal.

GroovyCart simply provides the “pipe-work” to connect a seller with their PayPal Pro account.  GroovyCart does not retain the card details, these are simply passed through to PayPal pro.

Note, the existing PayPal standard payment method will continue to be supported for shops that don’t have a PayPal Pro account but this does mean they wont be able to accept cards.

The following cards are supported:

  • Visa
  • Mastercard
  • Maestro
  • Visa Electron
  • Solo
  • Switch

If a customer selects to pay using a card it is not obvious from the screens that PayPal is being used to validate the card.

To enable this payment method you need to copy your PayPal Pro “API credentials” into the corresponding GroovyCart Payment Methods fields using the following instructions:
  1. Open two browser windows, one GroovyCart Admin Panel, Payment Methods and the other for PayPal.
  2. In the PayPal window:
    1. Login to PayPal,
    2. Select “Profile” from the top-bar
    3. Select “Request API Credentials” (under “Account Information”)
    4. Select “2. Set-up PayPal API Credentials”
    5. Select “View or Review Credentials”.

  4. If you decide to use PayPal Pro then it is recommend that you disable the standard PayPal payment method by removing/deleting your PayPal Email on the Payment Methods form.
